Jennifer has spent the past 13 years driving content strategy at Sharp HealthCare, a not-for-profit health care system in San Diego. She wears multiple professional hats, including UX writer, content strategist, copy editor, and cookie baker (every team needs one). When not spending her time writing copy for Sharp’s many digital products and thinking hard about comma placement, she can be found enjoying San Diego’s many hiking trails with her sweet rescue pup, Molly Weasley, as well as moonlighting as a Little Free Library steward.
Becoming a UX Writer: 10 Lessons I Learned Along the Way
I spent two years transitioning from a digital content writer to a UX writer. Here are the trials and tribulations I experienced and lessons I learned on this journey — including why it helps to fail, how a good product manager can be your best friend, and, of course, that coffee is extremely necessary. Expect concrete examples and some awesome clipart.
In this session you will learn:
- Why a good UX writer is integral to any content strategy and product marketing team
- How to set yourself up for success as a UX writer (with some fail moments along the way)
- How to get other players on your “team” and understand the importance of what you do.
