(Imperfect) Content Strategy for Perfectionists

This is not a tactical talk, but a philosophical/therapeutic talk that discusses the ways our pursuit of perfection and wanting to find the “right” answer can get in the way of our work. I’ll discuss how the idea of being able to create a perfect solution is a myth, and outline a new philosophy to embrace that focuses on being imperfect, or productively stupid. I’ll also cover some practical  ways to apply this in terms of how we collaborate with partners, the questions we use in our toolkit, and the way we assess ourselves.

In this session, attendees will learn:

  • A sigh of relief at being seen/understood on how this work can be tiring and overwhelming when they’ve been grinding away for a while
  • A shift in their philosophy that frees them from having to be the expert all the time
  • A list of questions for re-framing projects that can help them fine tune their toolkit”
