Linking Technical Content to Engineering Designs
Often the only connection between engineering designs and product documentation is the technical writer’s knowledge about the product. However, if the data of the two teams is in the same content management system, these information silos can be interconnected. This presentation considers different methods, some implicitly created and some explicitly authored, for connecting the technical content and the design drawings. You’ll learn about:
- The benefits of associativity between engineering designs and technical documentation
- Different types of associativity and the advantages and disadvantages of each
- How graphics derived from engineering data facilitate the linking
