Our 2012 technology focus: Creating and Deploying eBooks

New Sessions!

Over 20 new sessions and workshops have been added to the 2012 program. Download the expanded Schedule at a Glance, and check back soon for the detailed preliminary program.

Last year I asked speakers to specify which step(s) of the Content Development Lifecycle their sessions addressed. This year I’m taking a bigger view: Where in the Product Development Lifecycle do content developers contribute?

Sessions in our 2012 program are organized into the following tracks:

Expanding Your Sphere of Influence: Can you take a more active roll in the product development lifecycle? Leverage your core competencies to take on more responsibilities or make a bigger contribution in your organization? This year’s program focuses on how yo expand your sphere of influence within your organization.

Creating Strategic and Global Content: This track includes sessions on content strategies, moving to structured and topic-based authoring, how to turn content into a corporate asset that generates revenue, authoring and publishing content in multiple languages, strategies for reducing translation costs, and more.

Producing and Managing Digital Media Projects: This track addresses the opportunities and challenges that result from the convergence of traditional and new media. Topics include creating eBooks, improving the user experience, single source publishing, and more.

New Media, Social Media and Mobile Devices: Topics include optimizing content for hand-held devices, creating social media strategies, the emerging field of web analytics, and more.

Case Studies and Roundtable Discussions: It is one thing to say you should increase your sphere of influence, it’s quite another to see how peers in other organizations have actually done it. So this year’s program includes case studies and roundtable discussions that highlight how content developers have expanded their sphere of influence, increased Management’s awareness of their contributions, and how they helped increase revenue and decrease production costs.

I’m very excited about the management focus this year. Most content organizations can add more value to a business than just writing the words. We all know that, but showing our value to business leaders is critical. Looking forward to the event – especially in the Rose City!
